Is lying morally permissible? Lying is considered a threat to civil society, but it seems that in many cases lying is the most intuitive moral choice. Furthermore, if a sufficiently broad definition of “lying” is adopted, it seems completely impossible to escape lies because of self-deception or because of the social construction of our role. Let us study these issues more closely. First, lying is controversial. Recent discussions on the subject have identified four standard conditions for lying, but none seem to really work.
